There's no doubt that QR codes have seen a comeback since the beginning of the pandemic. Do you know how to use them to benefit your business?
Short for "quick response," a QR code is essentially a barcode that can be read by machines. Their use with smartphones has made them a go-to for distributing information in the digital age we live in.
So, what are these pixely squares exactly?
QR codes are the black and white box codes that direct a scanner to a specific website. There are two types of QR codes: Dynamic and Static. A webpage linked from a Static QR code is not able to be changed or edited once it is created. Dynamic QR codes, however, are those that you can update and edit at any point. The Dynamic QR code image will remain the same, but you can edit or change the site it links to.

How do I create one?
There are many websites out there that will allow you to create QR codes for free. They have additional features that let you add a logo to the center, change the color, and more (depending on the website). Note: Some websites offer static QR codes for free, whereas dynamic codes cost money.

How can they benefit my business?
- Cut back on printing costs
- For example, if you have multiple physical flyers, one for each type of fence you offer, you could instead have one flyer with multiple QR codes - each linking to a different PDF for each fence type.
- Track how effective your ads are
- If you put an ad in your local newspaper, a regional magazine, or anywhere else, you can generate a different code for each one. You can then see the stats on how many times the QR code was used! Note: Depending on the website you choose to create QR codes, some offer stat reports and some do not.
- Get customer feedback!
- Put a QR code on your invoices and link it to an internal survey or to Google Reviews.
- Put one on your company truck!
- Link it to your company's website or Facebook page to increase awareness and visitors to your online presence. Now that's what I call driving traffic to your website! 😉
